Substitute Cover & Expenses

For each course, substitute cover and expenses will be provided for teachers who complete all elements.  The maximum level of substitute cover available is £150 per full school day and £75 per half school day.  Participants will be provided with a substitute cover claim form that should be completed once the course has finished.  This form should then be returned to the CREDIT project office for processing.

 

Exploring Skills in CREDIT

Substitute cover will be provided, if required, for each of the three full days of the course attended.  In addition, a half-day cover will be available for teachers during the interim period of the course (between day 2 and day 3) to facilitate planning meetings.  Ideally these meeting should take place with colleagues taking part in the course or in neighbouring schools.  To avail of this half-day cover, teachers will need to provide written evidence of the use of this time, signed by each school Principal.  

 

Extending Skills in CREDIT

Substitute cover will be provided, if required, for each of the five full days of the course attended.  In addition, 1 day of cover will be available for teachers during the interim period of the course (between day 3 and day 4) to facilitate meetings.  Ideally these meeting should take place with colleagues taking part in the course or in neighbouring schools.  To avail of this full day cover, teachers will need to provide written evidence of the use of this time, signed by each school Principal.  

 

Travel Expenses

For each course, reasonable travel expenses will be paid.  In making their claim participants should adhere to the guidelines below:

• claims for travel should be submitted on the approved proforma which will be available on completion of each course;

• mileage will be paid at 45p per mile;

• if public transport is used:

• reimbursement will be on a receipts basis, provided the expenses are reasonable;

•  the most economical class of travel must be used; 

• the journeys should be made using the shortest routes –  this will be checked with Google Maps or another similar route finder.

 

Accommodation expenses

For a small number of applicants who have long distances to travel, additional funding is available for overnight accommodation in single rooms, en suite if available, in Stranmillis Halls of Residence.  Bed and breakfast will be funded and an evening meal is available to purchase in the Halls of Residence if required.  Participants wishing to avail of this accommodation should contact the CREDIT office as soon as a place on the course is confirmed. Priority will be given to those with a long distance to travel.
