Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

‌‌‌‌P‌rofessional development is a process whereby expert practitioners continually review their practice and seek support to develop new skills in the changing world of education.   As new initiatives arise and as jobs and responsibilities change, the dedicated professional identifies opportunities to extend or refresh their skills and here at Stranmillis we have a wide variety of courses to support you.   Our professional staff, with extensive experience in researching and teaching in their areas, working in partnership with a number of local organisations, can expertly guide you in your development and provide the practical support you need to become a more effective professional.

The people who embark on a continual learning journey are motivated to learn and develop because they want to - it is a purposeful act. There are a number of benefits to continuing personal and professional development:

  • Boosts confidence and self-esteem
  • Makes us less risk averse and more adaptable to change
  • Helps us achieve a more satisfying and professional life
  • Challenges our ideas and beliefs
  • Can be fun
