Stranmillis University College, together with St Mary’s University College have developed the Diversity and Mutual Understanding program to become an integral aspect of study for all students studying on Bachelor of Education and PGCE pathways. Members of academic staff from both University Colleges provide a range of activities at a variety of locations. We encourage students to engage in discussion and establish ways of coping with issues such as identity, diversity and prejudice within the classroom environment
The primary purpose of the ‘Inter-College Program Diversity and Mutual Understanding’ affectionately known as DMU is to bring together people of diverse backgrounds to discuss issues and explore ways to enhance their personal and professional development.
We offer students in Years 3, 4 and PGCE the opportunity to engage in issues of their choice in some depth through a series of workshops presented by guest speakers.
