Library Opening,

Monday 23rd April - Thursday 24th May

Monday - Thursday     9.00am - 9.00pm
Friday

9.00am - 4.30pm
Closed Bank Holiday Monday 7th May.
Important: Items on consultation (not journals or reference books) may be borrowed overnight and at weekends. They are available 30 minutes before the Library closes and must be returned by 9.30 am on the next opening day. When the Library is closed items may be returned to the red book bin outside the Library entrance.

Can't Find A Book?

The following is a brief explanation of prefixes which will help you find where items are shelved.

C Consultation - ask at Issue Desk
UC Ulster Collection - ask at Issue Desk
P Pamphlet - ask at Issue Desk
Q Oversize  - on shelves near the related main sequence
T Textbook - in Classroom Resources
J Juvenile - in Classroom  Resources
X Exhibition - in Classroom Resources

If there is no prefix the item is kept on the ordinary shelves. Offprints and dissertations are available for consultation at the issue desk.

 


Laptops On Loan

You can now borrow a laptop from the issue desk, for use in the library only. 

You will need your Student Card and a Memory Stick to save files.

You can also use your own wireless laptop in the Library.

 

Fines

The following notices are emailed rather than posted to you:

  • First Overdue
  • Second Overdue
  • First Recall 
  • Reservation Waiting

Please note: fines and recalls will be emailed to your Stranmillis email account.

Third overdue and recall notices will still be sent through the post.  If you receive one of these immediate action is necessary as fines will already have begun to add up.

Photocopiers

There are four self-service black and white and one colour photocopier in the Library. You will need a photocopy card to use them ; these may be purchased from the Library Issue Desk, the vending machine or the LSS shop.

  • £5.00-100 units
  • £10.00-200 units
