The Widening Access Officer, Dr Brian Cummins, works to encourage students from non-traditional backgrounds to enter higher education and also supports students on campus who come from such backgrounds. 

One of the strategic objectives of the University College is to ‘recruit, sustain and support students from the widest possible range of educational, social and cultural backgrounds’.  In light of this sentiment and strategic intent projects began in September 2006.  The Widening Access project is derived from the Stranmillis University College Access Agreement approved by DEL in March 2006.  Download the Access Agreement.
