CHH911 Bog Meadows and the Rivers of Belfast

This course will focus on the main tributaries of the River Lagan that flow into Belfast Lough.  Their contribution to the human and industrial history of the Lagan Valley will be explored, initially, their sources will be identified and how the rivers have carved out their valleys through the varied topography of North Down and South Antrim.  In the final session attention will be given to the wetland of the Bog Meadows formed by the deposition of sediment by the rivers in their lower reaches.
