An Introduction to Sketching and Drawing

Based on split-brain research, this course is designed to improve participant observation skills, hone control of drawing media and deepen understanding of shape and form. The first five sessions concentrate on accuracy in copying 2D sources using a range of techniques.  The remaining sessions focus on drawing 3D forms to create the illusion of depth on a page.  Techniques used by artists from different eras will be shared and ‘hacks’ revealed.  Suitable for those with no drawing experience as well as those looking to revise the basics.

IMPORTANT: Participants will need an A4 sketch pad, drawing pencils ranging from 2H to 6B, a sharpener and eraser.
