Erasmus+ and International Exchange Programmes
There are host of great reasons why you should choose to take advantage of the study abroad programme the College offers, academically and personally. Living and studying in a different country gives you the chance to explore, experience and share cultures; improve your language skills; acquire new perspectives on teaching and learning; build independence and confidence; and make lifelong friends. The reasons may be numerous, but one thing stays the same – it’s an experience you will remember for life.
Where can I Go?
The College has international partnerships with over 30 universities and colleges in 20 countries around the world through our Erasmus+ and International Exchange programmes. Click here to find out more about the choice of universities you can go to.
What will I do?
Just like when you are a student here at Stranmillis, you will take a range of mandatory and optional classes, complete assignments and undertake work-based placements. What you do outside of class is what makes the experience – making new friends; travelling, immersing yourself in a new cultural environment; being part of a global network; and enhancing your skills and talents.
Next Steps
There is a selection process for all of these opportunities. Information about selection criteria and processes will be provided with the application forms in due course.

College International Partnerships
In addition to Erasmus+ and International Exchange placements, our students have enjoyed international experiences in Uganda, Malaysia and India.
Uganda
Dr John McMullen is a director in the charity Fields of Life, which has been an official charity partner for the College over the past 4 years. He has brought a number of students and staff on placements to Uganda to work in Fields of Life schools. Subject to funding available, and travel restrictions, the college may offer long-term or short-term placement opportunities for BEd, BSc or BA students to Uganda.
Malaysia
Subject to funding available, and travel restrictions, the college may offer short School Based Work placement opportunities for BEd Primary and Post Primary students in International Schools in Malaysia. Selection for these placements usually involves a competitive written application and interview.
India
In conjunction with Saphara, a local education charity working in India, a number of groups from the College have had the opportunity to engage in issues of justice and global citizenship through working with educationally disadvantaged children in India, teaching literacy and numeracy.
