the skills to succeed
Our aim is to equip you with the skills, confidence and work-based experience to succeed.
A university degree is an investment in your future. Through your teaching and learning, your professional work placements, access to a diverse range of degree enhancement opportunities and ongoing careers support, a degree at Stranmillis will enhance your employment prospects. The latest Destination of Leavers from Higher Education research, carried out by the Higher Education Statistics Agency, shows that the unemployment rate for Stranmillis University College graduates, six months after graduation, is just 0.6% - one of the lowest rates in the UK and only medicine, dentistry and related graduates have a high employment rate than those with a degree in education.
An extensive programme of relevant work-based professional placements is a core element of all our courses, providing you with practical, hands-on experience in the workplace. The College has developed an extensive network of over 750 work-placement partners, who support and work with you to ensure you make the most of your placement opportunities.
To explore a broader career outlook, all initial teacher education students, in addition to their school-based placements, undertake an additional two-week alternative placement with one of our 250+ business and community partners.
Our Degree Enhancement programme is designed to help you to stand out from the crowd. The programme provides you with a range of opportunities to further enhance your skillset through optional short courses and volunteering opportunities within the College and within the community in areas relevant to your chosen career path.
