Multiply Project

Numeracy is an essential skill that impacts every one of us in our daily lives. The Multiply Project is a major Department for the Economy and UK Government funded initiative designed to boost the numeracy competence and confidence of adults who do not have GCSE Maths and enhance their opportunities for further training and employment. Stranmillis University College is contributing to the success of the Multiply programme in Northern Ireland by delivering two targeted initiatives, which empower all participants to re-engage with mathematics, develop their own numeracy skills and confidently support their child’s learning. These are:

  • Maths Made Simple
  • Everyday Maths

The courses are aimed at empowering adults and the parents and carers of primary age children to develop their own numeracy skills and be more confident in supporting their child’s learning and will from run from November 2024 to March 2025 in local  schools and community centres.

Multiply

Multiply is a £2.6 billion programme to help transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of adults across the UK . Numeracy is the ability to understand and use maths in daily life, home, and work.  Whether that be improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of the stats and facts in the media, or improving numeracy skills specific to your line of work.

People who improve their numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and better wellbeing, and will be more able to progress to higher levels of free training to secure a skilled job in our economy.

The Multiply programme is being delivered by further education colleges, universities and local councils in collaboration with the community and voluntary sector. The project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
