Whether it’s a full-blown creative production or an intimate recital, Stran Business offers a superb range of production and performance spaces from the 271-seat Drama Theatre to music recital rooms and Scholars Bar.

The Drama Theatre

Located in the heart of the beautiful Stranmillis University College demesne, The Drama Theatre is an adaptable production and performance venue, providing superb facilities and acoustics for professional and amateur drama, music, dance, comedy, cabaret shows, children’s and school performances and creative workshops. The main auditorium seats 271 patrons in tiered seating, with uninterrupted stage views from all seats. The venue is regularly used for BBC television productions such as The Blame Game and A Perforated Ulster.

The expansive stage area, one of the largest in Northern Ireland, provides a highly adaptable, flexible space, suitable for either large-scale or small productions. The theatre is equipped with full lighting and sound facilities and boasts an extensive backstage area with changing rooms and  props and scenery area. The theatre also has high speed WiFi, free on-site parking and full catering facilities. Additional rehearsal, audition and workshop spaces are also available on-site.

Performance and Location Venues

Stran Business also offers a number of other highly flexible, fully equipped venues, which are ideal for performances, shows, cabarets, workshops and events:

• The Conference Hall – a historic 200 seat theatre-style or 60 seat cabaret-style venue with a large raised stage area, ideal for cabaret shows, music recitals, literature events, art exhibitions, launches and awards ceremonies.
• Scholars Bar – spacious, modern bar with a fully equipped performance area and informal seating for up to 200 people for an acoustic night, comedy club, live music or variety /quiz night.
• Dance Hall – 386m² dance hall provides a superb venue for rehearsals, auditions, drama clubs and dance events.
• College campus – available for location filming, the College grounds have been used for major productions such as The Fall and Nowhere Special.

The Music Suite

The Music Suite at Stranmillis offers an extensive range of facilities for teaching, practice and recitals. The Recital Room, with floor to ceiling windows looking over the campus grounds, seats up to 100 guests and regularly hosts music concerts and recitals, as well as being a superb space for rehearsals or music examinations. The Music Suite also offers a range of practice and rehearsal rooms for individual and group uses including 2 large group practice rooms and 10 sound proof rehearsal pods.
