At Stranmillis, the wellbeing of our students is very important to us. We know that the transition to higher education can bring about challenges and fears, which can have a detrimental effect on health. Our aim is to ensure that we provide the necessary support, in many forms, to help our students overcome those fears and feel happy and confident in their student life.
Our Student Support team works in a person-centered way, meeting students where they are in terms of their academic and mental and physical health needs. We listen, advise, signpost and plan events and workshops that address the needs identified by students. The service we provide is confidential, student-led and provides a safe space for everyone to talk about personal and academic issues, both in a one-to-one setting and during group events.
We are aware of the challenges students are facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are listening to our students and providing a holistic approach to supporting their needs. We will continue to make the wellbeing of our students a priority and, as we move forward, will provide a holistic approach to supporting those needs, whether personal or academic.
This Student Wellbeing section provides information and resources on a range of health and wellbeing topics. If you need further information or support, please do not hesitate to contact Danielle Armstrong, Student Engagement Coordinator at d.armstrong@stran.ac.uk or Student Support on studentsupport@stran.ac.uk
INSPIRE, in partnership with Stranmillis, supports student wellbeing and provides special student counselling services independent of the College.
