Counselling
University can be enjoyable, but it can also be quite stressful, especially if you are struggling with academic or personal issues. Student Support provides a range of counselling services to support students. We work in collaboration with Inspire to provide a 24/7 confidential counselling service that is free to all Stranmillis Students. The counsellors are fully trained and experienced in working with students with a wide range of problems.
Communication Skills Centre
Our Communication Skills Centre Centre provides individual and group tuition to help students develop writing and communication skills. The Centre is staffed by specially trained peer tutors, who provide one-to-one advice and support, helping students with essays, reports, dissertations, exams and all other assignments in which writing plays a part. This is a free service available to all students.
Degree Enhancement
Our Degree Enhancement programme is a structured activity in addition to the normal degree. Degree Enhancement consists of those “things” that contribute to a student’s experiential learning which ultimately makes a significant contribution to their personal profile and hence their potential graduate employability.
Community Engagement – active and committed engagement beyond Stranmillis; locally, nationally or internationally.
College Engagement – voluntary support that enhances the College community or College life, on-campus or as part of an outreach programme.
Personal and Professional Learning and Development – personal and professional learning and development beyond their course.
Bursaries and Support
A range of bursaries and financial support funds are available to assist students who meet certain criteria, including the Stranmillis University College Bursary, Halls Accommodation Bursary, Care Leavers Bursary, Student Support Fund, Emergency Loan and other financial support.
Chaplaincy
